Salivary Bioscience supports pair bonding with the Mommies Program and the Kangaroo Mother Care study

April 21, 2016 by IISBR

Lisa Cleveland, Ph.D., RN, PNP-BC, IBCLC, assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, School of Nursing, is applying salivary bioscience to her research exploring the impact of Kangaroo Mother Care on stress and attachment in mothers and babies with opioid dependency. Saliva from both is tested to measure salivary cortisol levels. The data will be used to determine if the technique improves attachment and reduces stress reactivity in mothers and babies.
