The Institute for Interdisciplinary Salivary Bioscience Research (IISBR) at the University of California at Irvine is hosting the first in an annual series of research conferences. The purpose is to provide a mechanism for IISBR affiliated faculty, fellows, and their colleagues and students to connect and share scientific information by presenting new advancements and achievements in salivary bioscience.
Given the post-geographic nature of the IISBR network of scholars we will enable widespread participation of our scientific community and do so in a time efficient (no travel) manner at low cost (no registration or submission fees). This will be an open access, virtual conference -- activated for one week at iisbr.uci.edu. Authors and visitors can enter the conference portal and access all accepted presentations at any time from any place. All presentations will be in poster format. Presentations will be submitted through the conference system and each poster must be formatted using a conference template. The conference language is English. Authors will have an option to upload a short (30 sec) audio narrative explaining their findings. Presentations will remain in the portal for one week, during which time visitors can ask questions, provide comments, and authors can reply via text box. All submissions will be peer reviewed in a double tier approval process by a volunteer scientific committee.
All IISBR faculty affiliates, colleagues, fellows, students and past attendees of Spit Camp are encouraged to participate. All conference submitters are required to obtain a sponsor, either an IISBR faculty member or affiliate. To view a list of faculty members and affiliates, visit: iisbr.uci.edu/about-us
